Mapping Memory

Shaheen Ahmed, Jafrin Gulshan and Saba Khan

Mapping Memory

Over four months, artists Shaheen Ahmed (Birmingham), Jafrin Gulshan (Pakistan) and Saba Khan (Bangladesh) consolidated the archives from Birmingham, Lahore and Bangladesh to map historical movements of ideas, friendships and conversations. They followed and mapped the movements of artists whose work was significant, either due to their institution-building capacities, the role they played in pedagogy and as mentors, or because they were pioneers of art movements. The resulting map gives an insight into the larger narrative between each three regions, told through artists.
